The Best Choice I've Ever Made

In 2016, I was drowning because I was overextended. I couldn’t purposefully accomplish my goals because I was trying to satisfy circumstances that weren’t meant to prevail. While working 60+ hours a week for a Tech company, my recruiter sold me on this amazing opportunity that I couldn’t refuse. This glamorous opportunity to make an impact on the organization quickly became a heavy repetitive workload associated with adding on accounting assignments. I was so disappointed, but I kept at it and hoped for the best.

I chose to make the best of the situation, but it just didn’t work out and I found myself unemployed without another job lined up.

Now usually, I would’ve freaked out, but I didn’t. I was a good saver, or so I thought!

I had the education and experience to jump into another position, which didn’t come for 2 months.

Meanwhile, unforeseen expenses hit me from every end.

I realized that I never wanted to struggle with money again!

I made the decision to become intentional with my finances. I created a plan to create generational wealth and invest in my future. I forgave myself for my financial mistakes and moved forward with a plan. I finalized my budget, debt repayment, and set a timeline.

It was the best choice I've ever made.

In April 2018, I marked a huge goal off my list by selling my home that I purchased as an investment 4 years prior. I made 53% profit, eliminated debt, and invested the proceeds into my future.

I’ve become intentional with my money by consistently eliminating debt, saving 30% of my income, making smart investments, and diversifying my income.
